DOH CLOSES SELECT 7, INC. FOR MULTIPLE FOOD SAFETY VIOLATIONS
HONOLULU — The Hawai‘i Department of Health (DOH) issued a red “closed” placard and immediately shut down Select 7, Inc., located at 2142 Bannister Place on O‘ahu, due to multiple critical food safety violations.
The food establishment, operated by Select 7, Inc., received a red placard on May 28 and must remain closed until DOH conducts a follow-up inspection and all critical violations are resolved.
During a routine inspection conducted May 28, a DOH inspector observed multiple critical food safety violations including:
- All refrigerator units were unable to maintain food products at the proper cold-holding temperature of 41 degrees Fahrenheit or less;
- Handwashing sink was not accessible for employee use and was used for purposes other than handwashing;
- Food was not stored properly to prevent cross-contamination;
- Ready-to-eat (RTE) foods in the refrigerator were not properly date marked.
DOH is requiring the food establishment to correct all critical food safety violations before it can reopen. The next follow-up inspection is scheduled for May 30.
The DOH Food Safety Branch protects the health of Hawai‘i residents and visitors by regulating food establishments and providing education to industry personnel. The branch conducts routine inspections of facilities where food is prepared, manufactured, distributed, or sold to ensure compliance with safety standards.
In addition to inspections, the branch investigates sources of foodborne illness and potential food adulteration. Its specialists work closely with business owners and food service workers to promote safe food handling practices and prevent future public health risks.
